₦250 MILLION MEGA EMPOWERMENT, 2,500 CONSTITUENTS TARGETED: SEN MONGUNO FLAGS OFF PROGRAMME, DISBURSES ₦125 MILLION TO 1,250 BENEFICIARIES AS 1ST BATCH, THE  BALANCE OF125 MILLION TO 1,250 BENEFICIARIES WAS SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEK.

The Senator representing Borno North Senatorial District, Chief Whip of the Senate, and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Distinguished Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, has officially launched a ₦250 million Mega Empowerment Programme aimed at uplifting constituents through sustainable economic support.

The programme was flagged off with ₦250 million, targeted 2,500 beneficiaries, during which 1,250 beneficiaries received ₦100,000 each, while the balance of the 1,250 participants would undergo the same process next week, marking a significant milestone toward inclusive and sustainable economic empowerment across the constituency.

Prior to the disbursement, the 1,250 beneficiaries underwent a four-day intensive skills acquisition training in: Tie and Dye, Cake Making, Tailoring, Entrepreneurship, Soap Making, Groundnut Cake Production as well as Hairdressing which deliberately targets youths and women, equipping them with practical skills and start-up capital to promote self-reliance, productivity, and economic growth at the grassroots.

Guest speakers, including, the deputy state APC party chairman North, Alhaji Kallah Maina Monguno, Mobbar LGC chairman,  Hon. Mohammed (M-Gas), and the APC Party Chairman of Magumeri LGA, among others, commended Senator Monguno for his people-oriented leadership, describing the initiative as timely, impactful, and life-changing. 

They praised his consistency in delivering meaningful empowerment programmes, applauded the initiative as a clear demonstration of inclusive governance for women and youths, and urged beneficiaries to judiciously utilize the support as a strategic investment in human capital, with a view to growing their businesses and becoming employers of labour in the near future.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Mr. Suleiman reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and sustainability, while advising beneficiaries to remain focused, disciplined, and dedicated to their chosen trades.

The event attracted prominent party leaders and stakeholders, including Hon. Mustapha Gadobe, APC Zonal Chairman, Zone C; current and former members of the Borno State House of Assembly; Local Government Chairmen; board members; APC Local Government Party Chairmen; Senior Special Assistants (SSAs); Special Assistants (SAs); religious leaders; as well as youth and women group leaders among others.

In complementing the human capital development initiatives of the Governor Zulum led administration, Senator Monguno assured his constituents of the sustainability and continuity of the Mega Empowerment Programme.

He emphasized that the initiative is not a one-off intervention, but a long-term strategy focused on strengthening skills acquisition, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable sources of livelihood for youths and women. 

According to the Senator, the programme aligns with the broader vision of the Borno State Government to empower citizens, reduce unemployment, and foster inclusive economic growth at the grassroots level.
